To code a new remote: 1. Press and hold the 'Door Code' button on the opener control panel. 2. Press a button on the new remote for two seconds, release for two seconds, then press again for two seconds. 3. Release the 'Door Code' button. The opener should now recognize the new remote.
Most ATA remotes use a CR2032 coin battery. Use a small screwdriver to pry open the casing (usually via a slot on the side), slide out the old battery, and insert the new one ensuring the positive (+) side is facing up. Verify the LED light illuminates when a button is pressed.
If the LED light on your remote flashes during operation, it indicates that the battery power is low and should be replaced. If there is no light at all, the battery is dead.
The capacity depends on the model, but many modern Automatic Technology openers, such as the ATS-1 and GDO-12, can store up to 64 remote codes in their memory.
To safety test: 1. Place a 40mm high object (like a block of wood) on the floor under the door. 2. Close the door using the opener. 3. The door should strike the object and reverse direction automatically. If it does not, the opener requires force adjustment.
