Removing the Old Shaft Seal:

1. Refer to the pump Installation and User's Guide and complete all prerequisite disassembly instructions.
2. At the rear of the motor, insert a 1/4-inch hex-head driver into the hole in the middle of the motor fan cover.
3. While holding the motor shaft in place with the 1/4-inch driver, remove the impeller by rotating it counter-clockwise.
4. Using a pair of pliers, remove the old Spring Seal from the motor shaft.
5. Remove the drive assembly from the motor. Refer to the pump Installation and User's Guide for instructions.
6. Using a 9/16-inch wrench, remove the four bolts securing the seal plate to the motor. Set the motor aside.
7. Force the Seal Plate face down on a flat surface and tap out the old Ceramic Seal with a flat-blade screwdriver (Figure A).

Installing the New Shaft Seal:

1. Flip the seal plate over and thoroughly clean the seal cavity.
2. Using water, lightly lubricate the outside rubber surface of the new Ceramic Seal.
3. With the White Face upwards, firmly press the new Ceramic Seal into the seal plate cavity with your thumbs (Figure B). Ensure the Ceramic Seal is fully-seated.

5. Install the Seal Plate onto the motor. Tighten the four bolts to 105-inch lbs. (11.9-13 Nm).
6. With the Carbon Face towards the Ceramic Seal, slide the new Spring Seal onto the motor shaft (Figure C).
7. Using a 1/4-inch hex-head, hold the motor shaft in place at the rear of the motor and hand tighten the impeller clockwise onto the motor shaft.
8. Refer to the pump Installation and User's Guide and complete all remaining reassembly instructions.

After replacing the seals, ensure all pump components are securely reassembled and connections are tight. Prime the pump according to your pump's original user manual before starting. Monitor for any leaks during the initial operation. If leaks occur, immediately shut down the pump and re-inspect the seal installation.
